r. Susan Elizabeth (Russell) Neary,
a nurse practitioner and NP pro-
fessor for more than 30 years, re-
cently passed away peacefully in her
Walpole, Massachusetts, home. She was
the be lov ed wife of Joseph Neary for 40
years and the devoted mother of her son,
daughter, and their partners, and a dedi-
cated member of her extended family. Dr.
Neary had a great love of teaching and
was a graduate professor at Simmons Col-
lege School of Nursing for more than 30
years, where we were colleagues. Susan
was particularly moved by the care she
received from many of her former stu-
dents during her illness and by their
telling her of the tremendous impact she
had had on their lives. Susan was a tire-
less patient advocate, dedicated scholar,
and a luminary role model for a genera-
tion of nurse practitioners. Rest well, dear
Dr. Sue, we will miss you and your intelli-
gent humor, great laugh, zest for life, and
fine friendship.
