Getting Involved
The increasing move toward independent practice
for NPs is encouraging, but we must recognize that
there is much more to do, and NPs must continue to
work together to extend independent practice to
the full extent of their education in states with limits
on practice. Belonging to the AANP and state organ-
izations is an excellent way to learn about issues and
pending legislation, become involved in policy ad-
vocacy, and support initiatives aimed at expanding
the scope of practice for all NPs.
